The Lion Hearted Leaders is a school based program which has been developed by Brisbane Lions players in conjunction with the Brisbane Lions Welfare and Fan Development departments, and AFL Queensland.
During the 2012 pre-season camp, the players identified a need to increase their presence in schools and junior clubs, which will assist in broadening their footprint within the community and contribute to growing the game of AFL in Queensland.
Out of this, the idea was formulated to create a leadership program that can contribute to a school’s curriculum. From here, key Lions players consisting of Jonathan Brown, Daniel Merrett, Jed Adcock, Simon Black and Tom Rockliff further developed this program whilst on training camp in Arizona.
The overall aim of the program is to deliver core leadership principles in a language that is easy for school-aged children to comprehend through using terms ‘inclusion’ and ‘mateship’.
Lion Hearted Leaders is based on Brisbane Lions’ in-house leadership principles which are actively demonstrated on a day to day basis by coaches and players.

A fantastic leadership program presented by the Brisbane Lions where you can learn about mateship and inclusion.
