The move has been a stunning success with the Lions now playing before full-houses nearly every week - a far cry from the few thousand who used to watch the team at Carrara.

The club's move to the Gabba has not only brought about a spectacular growth in crowds for AFL matches in Queensland but has also brought about a significant change to the Gabba ground which is also the home of cricket in Queensland.

When the club first played at the ground its capacity was less than 20,000, but thanks to extensive rebuilding, capacity is now around 42,000.

In fact the Gabba now almost resembles almost a mini MCG complete with light towers with a gigantic modern grandstand ringing the ground providing an intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams.

With the same playing dimensions as the MCG and Brisbane’s superb climate usually providing ideal playing conditions, the Gabba is a spectacular place to watch footy There's not a bad seat in the house and the atmosphere is second to none.
