OUR MISSION
“To support, maintain, and where possible enhance the values of Fitzroy, Brisbane Bears and Brisbane Lions Football Clubs and to preserve the integrity of the memorabilia.”

Following the merger agreement in 1996, the Brisbane Lions' Board - in consultation with a number of key stakeholders from Fitzroy and the Brisbane Bears - formed an official 'Historical Society' which would be responsible for the safe-keeping, repairing and maintenance of the Club's memorabilia.

The Historical Society was also designed to continually recognise and acknowledge the rich histories and records from Fitzroy, the Bears, and the Brisbane Lions.

Over the years, the Historical Society has sourced and collected countless items of memorabilia, and maintained those already in the Club's possession.

In November 2011, the Historical Society proudly opened a Museum housed at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, which has received rave reviews from all who have toured the facility. There are also plans to construct a similar display in Brisbane in the future.

The Historical Society continues to host events and offer memberships to help raise funds - all of which help contribute towards the ongoing preservation and construction of the Museum, and other historical activities.
