UPDATES

FAMILY CONNECTIONS

The Starcevich name will continue at the Lions from 2018 following the recruitment of Brandon Starcevich. Brandon is the nephew of Craig Starcevich who was a premiership player with Collingwood before finishing his career with the Brisbane Bears. Craig remains an integral part of the Club as the Senior Coach of the AFLW side.

There is also an interesting Geelong connection at the Lions, with draftee Toby Wooller the grandson of 1963 Geelong premiership captain Fred Wooller. Coincidentally, one of Woollers new teammates – Josh Walker – also has a famous grandfather (Peter Walker) who played 159 games with the Cats during the same era!

KEVIN ELMS FEATURE

In case you missed it, long-time Fitzroy/Lions trainer Kevin Elms featured in the AFL Record during the 2017 Finals Series.

FATHER-DAUGHTER RULE

With the introduction of the AFLW competition, past players are advised that a father-daughter recruiting rule exists.

In short, the daughter/s of any person who has played at least ONE senior game for Fitzroy, the Bears, or the Brisbane Lions, is eligible to be drafted to the Club.
