Lions Football Dept changes

Colm Begley has been delisted by the Lions
The Vodafone Brisbane Lions wish to advise the following changes to the Club's Football Department in preparation for 2009.

Dual premiership ruckman Beau McDonald will replace former premiership team-mate Clark Keating as the Club's part-time ruck coach next season.

Keating was a valuable member of the Lions' coaching staff in 2008 but is unable to continue his role due to growing business interests.

McDonald returns to the Club after injury forced him to prematurely end his ten-year playing career with the Lions in March 2008.

The 28 year-old quality tap ruckman played 91 matches with the Club - including the 2001 and 2002 Grand Finals - and together with Keating, formed one of the competition's most lethal ruck combinations.

In other football-related news, International Rookie Colm Begley has been informed that his playing contract will not be renewed next season.

Begley played 29 senior matches and kicked seven goals with the Lions since being recruited from Ireland's County Laois at the end of 2005.

The 22 year-old played 19 senior matches in 2007, yet only managed eight senior games this year due to a quad injury.

The Lions would like to thank both Clark and Colm for their contribution to the Club and wish them well with their future endeavours.
