The Brisbane Lions will unveil their first round draft pick this Saturday night when they clash with the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium.

Sam Mayes, taken with pick No.8 in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft, will make his debut after impressive back to back performances in the Brisbane Lions Reserves. An AIS-AFL Academy Graduate, Mayes impressed in the senior ranks at North Adelaide in 2012, earning him South Australian representative honours as Vice-Captain in 2012.

Niall McKeever and Jared Polec, also come into the side in place of the injured Claye Beams (Knee), and Patrick Karnezis and Ryan Lester, who have both been omitted.

McKeever and Polec come into the side after showing good form with the Lions Reserves. McKeever, in particular, has impressed since being moved into the forward line at the start of the NEAFL Season.
