Lions midfielder Brent Moloney is preparing himself for a bit of extra attention when he lines up against his former teammates for the first time this Sunday at the Gabba.

The occasion will also mark Moloney’s 150th AFL match – 122 of which were played with the Melbourne between 2005-2012.

Although the Demons’ 2011 Best and Fairest departed the club on relatively good terms at the end of last year, he still expects some ‘friendly fire’.

"I'm sure the boys will be coming after me. It will be a good challenge," Moloney told The Courier Mail on Tuesday.

"You cop a bit of that niggle every week so it doesn't really worry me. Even though it is a milestone game against my old club, I just have to treat it like any other game."

"I put my heart and soul into the Melbourne footy club for eight years. But I'm a Brisbane Lion now."

Moloney’s 150th AFL match will be just his fifth in Lions colours. He also played 23 games with Geelong during his first couple of years in the competition.

The 29 year-old said the match would be a big one - not because of his impending milestone, but in the context of the Lions’ season which is hanging on knife’s edge.

"The milestone is great for my family and friends who are coming up and supporting me, but I have my job to do which is the priority," Moloney said.

"All I am focusing on is what I can do to help the Lions win games.”

Moloney has been one of the better contributors for the Lions in the opening month of the season, ranking equal first in contested possessions (45), second in clearances (21), second in tackles (20), and third in total disposals (90) at the Club.

"My form has been OK but nothing to set the world on fire. Hopefully I can keep building on that.”
