Brisbane Lions midfielder, Claye Beams has signed a one year contract extension with the Club.

Beams underwent surgery earlier this year after he sustained a foot injury during a practice match against the Sydney Swans and is expected to return in approximately 4 weeks.

Lions General Manager - Football Operations, Dean Warren, described the contract extension as a strong show of faith in Beams.

“Claye spent the majority of 2013 in rehab for a ruptured ACL and unfortunately has suffered another setback already this year,” Warren said.

“However we are continuously impressed by his absolute professionalism, particularly during his rehabilitation process, and we have great faith that he will become a solid contributor for our Club.

“A one year contract extension is a great result for both Claye and the Brisbane Lions and we look forward to seeing him back out on the park, playing the footy we know he is capable of.”

Beams was drafted was drafted to the Club with its Queensland Priority Selection (Pick No.76 overall) in the 2009 AFL Rookie Draft.

The Lions took little time in adding Beams to the Club's senior list - making his elevation official at the 2010 National Draft.
