Veteran St Kilda goalsneak Adam Schneider will miss Friday's ANZAC Day clash against the Brisbane Lions in Wellington after accepting a one-match sanction handed down by the AFL Match Review Panel on Monday.

Schneider play a key role in the Saints' upset of the Bombers last Saturday night, with 22 disposals, two goals, and four tackles.

St Kilda will also be without midfielder David Armitage, who will spend at least one more week on the sidelines with a nasty cut to his knee.

Maverick Weller did his chances of playing his first game in St Kilda colours no harm with a best-on-ground performance in the VFL, while veteran defender Sam Fisher is also poised for a return.

Meanwhile, the Lions are set to regain Daniel Merrett, who has served a two-match suspension for striking.

Merrett's return is timely considering Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt is in career-best form and is currently the equal leader (with Port Adelaide's Jay Schulz) in the race towards the 2014 Coleman Medal.

Josh Green and Pearce Hanley are also considered a chance to return from their respective hamstring problems.

The Lions, however, still boast one of the competition's longest injury lists, which features key players such as Daniel Rich, Matthew Leuenberger, Claye Beams, Brent Staker, and Ash McGrath.
