If you haven’t already got Tom Rockliff in your AFL Fantasy side, then all I have to say is “I told you so”.

I seem to mention Rocky is just about every one of my AFL Fantasy columns, but it’s hard not to when he racks up such big scores.

Before the start of the season I’m pretty sure I said he should be one of the first players selected in your side – and he hasn’t disappointed yet.

In his four games so far this season, Rocky has averaged 125.5 points – the third most in the competition behind Fremantle’s Michael Barlow (132 points per game – who’s played just two games) and Steve Johnson from Geelong (130 points per game).

He’s ahead of perennial AFL Fantasy guns Gary Ablett (123.6), Scott Pendlebury (120.8) and Dane Swan (101), which is some sort of achievement.

The only time Rocky hasn’t reached triple figures was in Round 1, when he settled for a ‘lazy’ 96 after being given a head-to-head role on Sam Mitchell.

In his three games since coming back from a one-game suspension, he’s had scores of 157 (against Gold Coast), 133 (against Port Adelaide) and 116 (against Richmond).

Even though the team has been struggling on the field lately, it hasn’t affect Rocky’s ability to find the ball.

There’s no wonder why Roy from ‘The Traders’ on afl.com.au has so much man-love for Rockliff.

Jack Redden is second at the Lions in terms of averages, but leads the way when it comes to total points (523 points) – mainly because he’s played every game so far.

Reddo has been ultra-consistent as well, with his lowest score of 88 coming against the Hawks in the season opener.

Not only does he get plenty of the ball, but he lays more tackles than anyone else in the team. And with tackles worth four points each, you can generally count on him racking up 40 points before you even start counting his possessions and marks.

It’s also great to see a few new faces in the ‘Top 10’ after five rounds.

Ryan Lester rounds out the top five with some pretty big names such as Rockliff, Redden, Dayne Zorko and Pearce Hanley just above him.

Meanwhile, recruits Trent West and James Aish are in 8th and 9th position respectively.

As for the ‘Polka Specials’, they aren’t travelling too flash at the moment, but I’m confident that I can turn things around once I start to trade out some of my ‘cash cows’.

Injuries to Hanley and Matthew Leuenberger have hurt me, while Lachie Hunter’s omission from the Western Bulldogs left me one short in my forward line this week.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Dane Swan is one of the all-time AFL Fantasy greats, but has had a pretty modest start to the season by his ridiculously high standards.

He’s still averaging 101 points, but you can probably bank on him averaging around the 120-mark by the end of the season.

Swanny’s 145 points against North Melbourne last week suggests he’s about ready to explode, so get on him now while he’s relatively cheap ($530K). He usually racks them up against Essendon on ANZAC Day as well.
