Less than nine months into his first year at the Brisbane Lions, West Australian draftee Nick Robertson had no hesitation in extending his stay in Queensland.

Robertson’s two-year contract extension means that he will remain with the Club until at least the end of 2017 – but the 19-year-old hopes he can hang around even longer.

“I’m here for another two years, which will make it four years in Brisbane,” Robertson told LIONS TV on Monday.

“Hopefully I’ll sign an extra (contract) down the track. I’ll have the missus moving over as well.

“I was always wanting to sign and stay with the Club. I’m really happy to be here.”

The hard-running midfielder credits his seamless transition into the Brisbane lifestyle to (Major Sponsor) National Storage Co-Director Andrew Catsoulis, who has welcomed Robertson into his family.

“I’m living with the Catsoulis family…they’ve been an absolute blessing to me,” Robertson said.

“They took me under their wing. I’ve been living with them and their three daughters. They’re another family (for me).”

The West Perth product has played seven senior games so far in his debut season, and averages 12.7 possessions (45% of which have been contested), and 4.1 tackles per game.

Robertson is the latest in a long line of young Lions who have committed to the Club in 2014 – along with Sam Mayes, Josh Green, Michael Close, Rohan Bewick, Tom Rockliff, Jack Redden, and Claye Beams.

The Lions are in the process of re-signing some of the other young talent at the Club, and hopes to share more good news with fans in the not-too-distant future.
