In the sixth and final instalment of “Browny – The People’s Champ”, Lions TV gives fans an exclusive first look behind the scenes at Jonathan Brown’s retirement announcement.

One of the more gripping pieces of vision includes a clearly emotional Brown addressing his teammates to advise them of his decision to hang up the boots.

“I’m here to announce my retirement. It’s been a tough few days obviously agonising over it all,” Brown said.

“Certainly based on all the medical advice and my history with concussion…I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to finish up immediately.

“I look at the little fella (son Jack) and the kids and see that there are other priorities in life now that have taken over.

“It’s been a real tough one because I started the season and signed up to play for the whole year and the last thing I wanted to do was finish playing…because when I start something, I like to finish it.

“It’s very difficult and there’s a huge part of me that feel s like I’m letting you guys down.

“The thing I take away from it is the memories, the camaraderie, the bonds you create and the memories you create when you win premierships.”

The final moments of the documentary follow Brown during his official farewell game against North Melbourne in Round 15 – a match the Lions lifted for to ensure one of the Club’s all-time greats got the send-off he well and truly deserved.
