The Brisbane Lions and award-wining global airline Garuda Indonesia have today announced a new partnership that will see one of Asia's most rapidly growing brands become the Club’s shorts sponsor for the 2015 season.

Lions’ players were on hand at Brisbane International airport armed with surfboards and zinc-cream as the Club announced its new partnership with Garuda Indonesia, the national airline of Indonesia.

Garuda Indonesia is no stranger to the world of elite sport.

Their partnership with the Lions comes off the back of their recent signing as the official Performance Partner of Liverpool FC earlier this year, after two years as their Official Airline Partner.

Greg Swann, Lions CEO said he was thrilled about the new partnership and eager to welcome Garuda Indonesia to the Lions’ family in 2015.

“Our partnership with Garuda Indonesia is a great coup for not only the Brisbane Lions but for the AFL industry and demonstrates our sports strength in attracting great brands to partner with,” Swann said.

“Garuda Indonesia is asserting themselves as a leading player in global aviation, and there are strong synergies between where they are heading and the goals of our football Club, as we aim to once again become a dominant force in the AFL.

“We look forward to working alongside Garuda Indonesia in 2015 and building a strong and long-standing partnership.”

Pak Uun, Vice President for Garuda Indonesia Australia, said the airline was excited to join forces with the Lions.

"At Garuda Indonesia, we love sport; so much so that we offer a complimentary 23kg sporting allowance to our passengers - footballs included,” Pak Uun said.

“We are very excited to be sponsoring the Brisbane Lions this season, and we know they will do Queensland proud. “

“We re-launched our Brisbane services last year due to increasing demand, so we hope to see Brisbane Lions fans flying the flag on our flights for the duration of the season!"

Operating for over 65 years, Garuda Indonesia focuses on providing their passengers with quality services and genuine Indonesian hospitality.

With the airline flying direct from Brisbane to Indonesia, including Bali, Lions fans will now have a trusted ally, when it comes to booking their next holiday abroad.
