As he approaches his second year in the AFL system, 198cm key forward prospect Jonathan Freeman realises that he is still very much a work in progress.

One particular aspect that Freeman has identified as needing to drastically improve is his aggression.

The 20-year-old Sunshine Coast product is naturally a quiet person, but is determined to harness his inner ‘mongrel’ out on the field.

“I’d like to get my aggression up and take real ownership of the forward line as well as getting fitter and faster and stronger,” Freeman told LionsTV.

“I have to find that ‘white line fever’ and bring the mongrel out in me.”

Thankfully, he will have the opportunity to learn from one of the best, and most aggressive, key forwards of the modern era in Jonathan Brown, who will remain with the Club in a part-time capacity next season.

“He’s a natural at it – both on the field and off it as well,” Freeman said.

“I’m a bit different, I’m a bit quieter off the field.”
