CAPTAIN Tom Rockliff is confident that the new-look Lions can restore the Gabba to the fortress it was in the early 2000s, starting with this weekend’s match against Collingwood.

Rockliff told 4BC’s Sports Today that it is important the Lions make a statement early.

“That’s one of our main focuses this year – to make sure it’s really tough for opposition clubs that come here and want to play against us.

“Round One is massive for us. If we can string a few wins together, start really well on Saturday night and start to build into the season from there. Hopefully we can get big crowds and put on good performances at the Gabba”, Rockliff said.

“It’s time for us to do our talking on the field and walk the walk (against Collingwood).”

Tickets for the match are available through www.lions.com.au
