Elite Performance Manager Brett Burton says Captain Tom Rockliff pulled up well following his return from broken ribs and a punctured lung in Sunday’s loss to West Coast.

“Obviously Rocky’s getting used to breathing properly through his lungs to full capacity and copping the hits that you do in AFL footy, but he’s pulled up fine and raring to go for this week.”

The buck stops with me

“Out of the Reserves we had Goose Maguire cop a hit to the head, so he’s got some concussion out of that. We’ll see how he is during the week, as long as he passes his concussion test he’ll be available to play,” Burton said.

“The other one was Jackson Paine, unfortunately he’s just come back from a shoulder injury, been out the past month and now he’s hurt his ankle. We’re still getting a scan result from that and will have more information later in the week but it looks quite bad.”

Burton said a hamstring injury to defender Dan Merrett was taking a little longer than expected.

Merrett to miss QClash

“Dan’s been a little bit slower than what we would have liked, he’s back running so we just need to build him up through his speed progressions and hopefully in the next couple of weeks get him back out there.”

While, Pearce Hanley, is tracking well in his recovery from hip surgery in February.

“Pearce is going along really well, he’s on target to come back after the bye. He’s back running now and it’s really just about building his progressions up over the next six to eight weeks and making sure when we get him back, he stays back and we protect that hip.”
