Next year will mark West Australian Nick Robertson’s fourth year in Brisbane, a city which he has grown to love as his home away from home.

Recruited to the Lions as an 18-year-old from West Perth in the WAFL, Robertson said the move East had been smooth sailing.

“WA’s pretty similar to Brisbane,” Robertson told LionsTV following training yesterday.

“The humidity really gets you but I love it here. It’s a real big country town. I can get down to Southbank and kick my feet up. I love the lifestyle.”

Robertson has become a firm fan favourite as a result of his hard-playing style and commitment to the game. He is looking forward to an injury free season and credits his teammates with inspiring his development.

“Paps (Marco Paparone) has come back this pre-season a lot fitter than last year. I’m trying to keep up with him at the moment.

“I want to stay fit and injury free. I want to work on the different things that I need to improve on with kicking and ground balls and build that craft into my game.”

Robertson has joined the Club’s MoBro’s in a Movember initiative that aims to raise money for men’s health research.

“I’m trying to get a bit of the ‘mo’ going but it’s not working too well,” he laughed.

“I’ve got to shave the rest to make it really stand out, but it’s all for a good cause.”
