Josh Green is determined to bounce back after a disappointing injury setback, with the small forward eyeing off a possible round one return.

The Lions were dealt a blow in early January when it was revealed that Green was expected to miss 10 weeks with a fractured foot – the same foot that cost the 23-year-old six matches last season with a stress fracture.

“It’s about four weeks today since the surgery,” Green told LionsTV.

“I started running on the ‘Alter-G’ (machine) the other day at about 75%. I’ll just keep building up from here and I think the aim is to run on ground next week.

“It’s coming along really well and hopefully round one is a possibility.”

While he recovers Green has been on a modified training program that has included Pilates in order to maintain core strength.

“(I’ve been focusing on) a lot of trunk stuff like glutes and core away from the gym and running so it reduces that risk of injury when I return.”

Surgery was a success, thanks for all the Kind messages can't wait to be back into it!

The Tasmanian is an integral part of the Lions’ forward set-up, being the Club's leading goalkicker the past two seasons.

“This year it’s more about getting out on the track and playing a full season.

“I had a few injuries last year so I think that’s my goal and hopefully I can contribute to a better year for the team.

“Hopefully we can improve as a team.”

Green said the pre-season form of fellow ‘Mozzie’ and teammate Lewis Taylor had been impressive.

Brisbane will complete a final match simulation training session at Burpengary tomorrow before the NAB Challenge opener against Gold Coast on February 21.

“Little ‘Squizzy’ Taylor’s been really good. He’s been training well.

“Bastinac – he’s trained the house down and obviously Schache is a player everyone is talking about but he’s showed some really good signs.

“It will be good to go up and watch them at Burpengary tomorrow and see how everyone goes.”
