In review of Sunday's game against Port Adelaide, Assistant Coach Murray Davis has responded to fans who asked about the boys' boots and their ability to keep their feet in the contest.

"There were some questions asked around the footwear," Davis said in the latest Vero Coaches Wrap.

"As a coaching group we certainly advise the players.

"The players do a test run on what boots they will wear. They always bring a couple of pairs.

"It's as much about comfort as it is about making sure you hold your feet in the contest."

Although the boots make a difference, Davis didn't attribute our inability to hold our feet around the contest purely to footwear. He believes it's a matter of Footwear V Footwork.

"Sometimes it’s a choice thing, sometimes it’s a footwear thing and sometimes it’s even a footwork thing."

Example: A missed tackle from Ryan Harwood

Murray Davis gives an example of a missed tackle from Ryan Harwood in the third quarter of our game against Port Adelaide (watch Vero Coaches Wrap for full clip).

Davis says that this instance was purely a matter of footwork.

"It’s certainly the footwork side of things.

"We talk about too long of a stride, we talk about where he lines himself up with the player and basically where he should be is inline with that players’ inside shoulder.

"He over commits and then he trips over and loses his feet mainly because of his poor footwork.

"That’s something that we’ll continue to work with the players on."
