Vice-captain Dayne Zorko says the Brisbane Lions are fresh after the bye and ready to turn the season around in this weekend’s QClash 12 at Metricon Stadium.

The Club’s standout player in 2016 says his team are determined to claw back some pride than by upsetting the Gold Coast for a second time this season.

“There’s no doubt it’s been a rough start to the year but we want to give this back-half of the season a red-hot crack,’’ Zorko told The Courier-Mail.

“Coming off the bye could potentially be an advantage for us. The boys got the chance to get away and freshen up physically and mentally and are looking forward to the challenge.

“We always talk about wanting to be the best team in Queensland. I’m sure both clubs want to be the most dominant side in the state. That’s something that drives the boys.

“I don’t think that motivation will ever change. The QClash is getting to that point where ladder positions don’t matter and it is always a really tough contest.’’

While a clean-sweep of the QClash matches in 2016 would be a major boost to morale at the Gabba, Zorko said Brisbane were under no illusions about how tough the task would be with the “dynamic duo’’ of Tom Lynch and Peter Wright up forward for the Suns.

He said containing the “elite” Gold Coast midfield was another key to victory.
