Coming off a win, and with no obviously injuries coming out of the match against the Bombers, it's hard to see the Lions making many changes for their match against Port Adelaide at the Gabba on Saturday night.

Lewy Taylor is ready to return from an ankle injury, and could come straight back into the Senior side, while Ryan Lester was the best performer for the Lions in the NEAFL on the weekend, finishing with 25 disposals and two goals.

Nick Robertson is another player who has been in fine form in the NEAFL, and could be close to a Senior recall.

Michael Close has been impressive in recent weeks, showing a high work-rate, and building as a leader with directional talk on the ground. Close was also a key performer in the Lions Reserves' Round 16 win against the GIANTS, kicking a total of three goals.

Young Ruckman Archie Smith, who was last week upgraded to the Senior list, is also expected to get his chance at AFL level before the end of the Season, after a strong year in the NEAFL.

Who's in the mix for Port Adelaide:

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has indicated he's not afraid to wield the axe at selection for Saturday night's must-win encounter with the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.

While the Power are probably already out of finals contention, they still have a slim chance if they win their last five games. Hinkley has stated that Jake Neade, Karl Amon, Nathan Krakouer, Mathew Lobbe and Matthew White will all come into consideration for a senior recall.

White hasn't played since a pectoral injury in round one, while experienced ruckman Lobbe has missed the past three months with a knee injury.
