Brisbane Lions Head of Medical Peter Blanch has given lions.com.au an injury update ahead of the team’s Round 5 match with the Western Bulldogs.

Vice-captain Tom Rockliff left the field with a dislocated finger in the final quarter of Sunday’s loss to Richmond and will wear a splint as he recovers from the injury.

“Tom had a fair dislocation to his finger – it resulted in a small fracture to the joint,” said Brisbane Lions Head of Medical Peter Blanch.

“He’ll have to wear a splint during the day. For training and games he’ll tape it up and play on so he won’t miss any games with that.”

Meanwhile defender Tom Cutler is awaiting the results of an MRI scan on his hamstring.

Cutler sustained the injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s match against Richmond and did not play out the match.

The 22-year-old trained this morning.

Rhys Mathieson has been listed as a test and is likely to play his returning match from injury in the NEAFL on Saturday.

The Lions NEAFL side will play the Gold Coast SUNS at Metricon Stadium at 12:55pm.
