The Brisbane Lions have secured the services of first year midfielder Jarrod Berry until 2020.

The Lions have also re-signed defender Tom Cutler for a further two years.

Berry, who was already contracted until the end of 2018, signed a new two year deal.

Taken at pick #17 in the 2016 National Draft, Berry has impressed as a solid performer for the Lions since making his debut in Round 3 against St Kilda.

“We’re extremely excited to extend Jarrod’s contract," said Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football David Noble.

“Jarrod’s an exciting player who has a desire to win contested footy. He’s shown us glimpses of that ability already,” said Noble.

“Jarrod is great to have around, has a positive attitude that contributes to the culture of our Club.”

Cutler has played 38 games since he was drafted to the Club at the end of 2013.

The 22-year-old is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury but is expected to return to football next week.

“We were really pleased to re-sign Tom,” said Noble.

“We see Tom as a long-term player for our Club and we believe he has a strong part to play in our future.

“We’re laying the foundations for continued improvement. We want to become relevant again and these signings are recognition of that.”
