Coaches Wrap: Round 8 Dale Tapping Wraps up the game against the Hawks

In what was an improved opening term from the Lions against the Hawks on Saturday, Assistant Coach Dale Tapping has lamented a sequence of missed opportunities.

“There was a real focus going into the game against Hawthorn to start better than we have the previous weeks,” said Tapping.

“We would’ve been even on the scoreboard, even a goal or two in front if we had of been better with our decisions and better with our ball use,” said Tapping.

The Lions dominated play in the first part of the third quarter, but five successive forays inside 50 yielded just two behinds and one shot out of bounds.

“The pressure we’ve been putting on the opposition has been immense but when we do get the ball in hand we’ve just got to be more composed and understand what’s happening in the game at that moment in time so we make better informed decisions with the footy.”

Tapping said despite this week’s opposition, Adelaide, having lost their past two matches, they’ll be bringing plenty of heat on Saturday.

"Up until two weeks ago the Crows were one of the most in-form teams of the competition. They’re very aggressive with their offense and they really punish you on turnovers.

"We’ll expect a fired up Crows outfit this week. For us we’ve got to bring our 93 tackles this week to match their pressure and to generate more opportunities as we’ve done the past few weeks.
