Brisbane Lions’ Head of Medical Peter Blanch says Darcy Gardiner remains a chance of playing again this season after dislocating his elbow against Essendon on Sunday.

“Darcy Gardiner dislocated his elbow in the first quarter. That’s all been relocated now. He’s going to be out for 4-6 weeks, but we aren’t too sure yet,” Blanch said.

Tom Bell underwent surgery on his ankle and fibula last week and the injury could spell the end of his season.

“Tom had a plate put on his fibula and a screw put through his ankle. That’s going to be at least six weeks and it may be the end of his season,” Blanch said.

Dayne Beams is progressing well in his recovery from a shoulder injury, with Blanch saying he remains a week to week proposition.

“Dayne’s going well. He’s got pretty good mobility back into his shoulder and has started back into skills,” Blanch said.

“At the moment he’s a week by week measure to see when we get him back.”

LIONS HEALTH CENTRE: INJURY LIST

While there were no more injuries to come out of the AFL match, the Lions were hit with a minor injury to Claye Beams in the NEAFL.

“Claye Beams hurt his foot and will be out for at least one week. He will try and get him back after the bye,” Blanch said.

“Everybody else pulled up fairly well, we have a couple of little niggles we need to work through this week, but they should all get through okay.”
