Fantasy Wrap: Round 16 v Geelong

Michael Gosman  July 11, 2017 9:39 AM

Dayne Zorko’s (MID, $668,000) incredible game against Geelong secured him 181 AFL Fantasy points, which was easily the highest score of the round. Against Geelong’s star-studded midfield, Zorko tallied a huge 36 disposals, 10 clearances, 12 tackles, four goals and one goal assist. Zorko now sits in fourth place on the overall leaderboard and has been hit with a $20,000 price increase ahead of Round 17.

In his return from injury, Captain Dayne Beams (MID, $510,000) had a solid game, securing 71 AFL Fantasy points. Beams amassed 18 disposals and two marks against the Cats. Look for Beams to be back closer to his average of 97 points this week against Richmond.

Sam Mayes’ (DEF, $479,000) consistent run of form continued against Geelong, collecting 93 AFL Fantasy points. With Geelong’s attack on song, Mayes played a big role in defence, gathering 22 disposals and making seven rebound 50s.

Young guns Alex Witherden (DEF/MID, $305,000) and Jarrod Berry (DEF/MID, $320,000) both had strong matches, acquiring 82 AFL Fantasy points each. Witherden’s value has soared by almost $100,000 since his debut three weeks ago.

After starting the season as an AFL Fantasy fan favourite, Stefan Martin's (RUC, $521,000) value continues to slide with another $15,000 chopped off his price following Round 16. Martin averages 102 AFL Fantasy points per round, but over the past five rounds, he has averaged just over 90 points. With Archie Smith expected to keep his spot in the Senior team, Martin's output will likely continue to drop.
