Brisbane Lions’ Head of Medical Peter Blanch says Josh Walker may be a chance of playing this weekend against Richmond, after leaving the field early against Geelong with a leg injury.

“We got through pretty well against Geelong,” Blanch said.

“We lost Josh Walker in the first quarter, he took a knock to the outside of his leg, he hurt the joint at the top of his lower leg.

“He’s going to be a bit touch and go, we are going to try and get him up this week, but we’re not quite sure how he’s going to go.”

The season is almost certainly over for Tom Bell, while Darcy Gardiner will hopefully return in two weeks' time.

“Tom Bell’s leg has come out of plaster and gone into a boot. We are probably not going to see Tom play again this year - he will be back running by the end of the season, but not enough to get him back into games,” Blanch said.

“Darcy Gardiner’s elbow is going really well. He started back running and training today. We are hoping to have him available the week after next.”

Claye Beams and Ryan Harwood are close to returning to full training and should be back after the NEAFL bye this weekend.

“Both Claye and Ryan are going very well, they did a fair bit of running today and will train quite heavily over the weekend. We look forward to having them back available.”
