Sophie Conway had to make the difficult decision between a career in AFL or hockey, with the 18-year-old earning Australian honours in both.

Luckily for the Brisbane Lions, she chose AFL and was selected with the Lions’ seventh pick (45 overall) at the 2017 AFLW Draft.

With only two AFL seasons under her belt, Conway was named in the under 18 All-Australian AFL team this year, after starring for Queensland at National Championships.

She has developed into a medium-sized midfielder or forward with proficient evasion skills and balance. Conway wins possession cleanly, and has speed to match.

This year, she vice-captained Queensland at the under 18 National Hockey championships in Hobart, where they won gold.

The Zillmere Eagles player is currently studying Crime and Justice at TAFE. Her brother, Isaac Conway, is a former Brisbane Lions Rookie.
