The Brisbane Lions' first selection, 7th pick overall, Jordan Zanchetta has had to wait twelve long months to finally receive her AFLW Brisbane Lions guernsey.

The midfielder might have been a Lions’ top six pick at the inaugural 2016 AFLW Draft, if an ACL injury had not cruelly robbed her of playing that season.

Zanchetta started playing AFL in high school at the Yeronga Devils Football Club. Since then, she’s developed into a hard-working, aggressive inside midfielder who uses the ball well. She is particularly skilful in evading the opposition inside congested space.

The 22-year-old has represented the Western Bulldogs in Women’s Exhibition matches and Queensland in Senior State representative games. She is a two-time All-Australian at Youth Girls level and was a joint QWAFL best and fairest medal winner in 2015.

In August this year, back from her ACL injury, Zanchetta was an important member of the Devil’s QWAFL Premiership team.
