Ahead of Saturday's match against the Bulldogs, lions.com.au take a look back at the Round 21 clash between Fitzroy and Footscray in 1988.

A crowd of just over 13,000 gathered to watch the exciting game unfold at Princess Park.

It was only the second time Lions legend Alastair Lynch had played against Footscray, after making his debut earlier this year against the same opposition.

It was a close first half with the Lions just holding on to a one-point lead at the main break.

187-game Fitzroy legend Richard Osborne was outstanding, kicking eight of his team's 19 goals.
