For the first, and possibly the last time, a world record holder joined the Roar Deal podcast this week with hosts Dom Fay and Michael Whiting.

The record in question was Harris Andrews' phenomenal 23 spoils against the Sydney Swans last weekend, which bested the previous AFL record of 21 previously held by Port Adelaide's Dougal Howard.

Andrews (@28.26) spoke about the massive feat and his reaction to it.

"The week has been good...we've moved on pretty quickly. There was a little bit of fuss made about it [the record]," Andrews said.

"I did see the other night Spud Frawley gave me a bit of a shoutout,

"It was a bit strange, I wasn't thinking about it on the ground or anything.

"I didn't know about the record. I got off the ground and Murray Davis, our Backline Coach, said I might have gone close.

"The next day our statistician texted me and let me know."

The tactic of spoiling, rather than attempting to mark the ball, was planned before the match due to the weather and Sydney being a strong ground level team.

"There were probably a few more I could have attempted to mark. Obviously, Sydney is a really strong ground level team - being able to kill the ball and get it out of the area of the smaller guys was a big focus," Andrews said.

"It's about the balance of going for the mark and spoiling the ball.

"I'll certainly be looking to take a few more marks this week."

Andrews has been happy with his form this last month.

"Probably from that Gold Coast game [in Round 5] I've been able to string a couple of fairly good games together which is exciting."

"The first four weeks of the season I was a little bit slow to get off the blocks.

"Since that Gold Coast game I've bought a new intensity and my positioning around the ground has been better."

In his chat with Fay and Whiting, Andrews also discusses the defensive changes the team have made since Round 1, taking on Ben Brown and how the team have changed their approach to playing at Etihad Stadium.
