Injury News

Brisbane Lions forward Charlie Cameron will miss the remainder of the 2018 AFL season after scans revealed he has torn the Lisfranc ligament on his right ankle and will require surgery.

“In consultation with our medical team, unfortunately Charlie has ruptured the Lisfranc ligament in his foot,” Lions General Manager of Football David Noble said.

“He will require surgery and will be out for the rest of the season.”

Cameron came off to the interchange bench during the second quarter in Sunday’s loss to North Melbourne at Etihad. He did not return to the field for the remainder of the afternoon.

The 23-year-old will have surgery next week.

The Lions were reduced to one player on the bench for most of the second half against the Kangaroos on Sunday.

Allen Christensen did not return to the field after he was concussed following a high hit by North’s Jy Simpkin. Simpkin has been hit with a two-match ban for the hit which he will challenge tonight at the AFL tribunal.

Christensen will be tested later this week to judge whether he is fit to play against Essendon on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mitch Robinson will miss three weeks after breaking a toe on his right foot during the match against North Melbourne.

Hugh McCluggage, who sat out the second half on the bench due to a calf complaint, will be a test this week.

Fellow midfielder Jarrod Berry, who was a late withdrawal from Sunday’s match because of hamstring soreness, will also be a test.
