Kevin Murray reaches a new milestone

Happy Birthday Kevin Murray Happy 80th Birthday to club Legend, Kevin Murray!

As far as Club icons go, they don't come any bigger than Kevin 'Bulldog' Murray.

He is known by all as an important part of the Club's fabric and has left a legacy that extends far beyond his 18 wonderful seasons.

Bulldog played 333 games which then stood as an all-time VFL record. His dominance at Fitzroy is best reflected in the fact he won a record nine Best & Fairest awards and spent eight seasons as Captain in two separate stints.

In 1969, when he was 31 years of age, he took home the competition's highest individual honour – the Brownlow Medal.

Among all the accolades, only one word can truly do justice to his significant contribution to the Club…Legend.

Off the field, Bulldog continues to reach outstanding milestones and today he celebrates another - his 80th birthday!

With 80 years of life experience and countless unforgettable football memories, sat down with the Club legend to ask him for some words of wisdom.

"I want to let the players know that we've all got to start somewhere and you can never win them all," Bulldog said.

"Even though this is not the same game I played in, this is their future - don't waste any year."

"You'll find as the years go on, you'll succeed."

Bulldog praised the Club's supporters as some of the most faithful he'd ever seen.

"Win, lose or draw, they are always there the next week to back you up and kick you on,

"They never ever deserted us.

"I treasure those days."

From everyone at the Club - Happy 80th Birthday, Bulldog.
