Casey Voss, son of Brisbane Lions legend Michael, said he has loved his experience of training and playing with the team these past few weeks.

Voss came up from South Australia during the school holidays and will play in the Lions NEAFL team for a second time this weekend.

“I’ve loved it, the boys have gotten around me and made me feel part of the team which is all I really wanted,” Voss told lions.com.au.

Pulling on the Lions guernsey for the first time last weekend against the Southport Sharks in the NEAFL was an unreal experience.

“I was pretty happy. Dad got to watch a bit of the game on the weekend and was happy with how I played. So it was good to pull on the Lions guernsey for the first time,” he said.

Although the team lost to the Sharks, Voss said it was a great taste of the professional level. He had 12 possessions and two tackles for the afternoon.

“It’s a bit of a change up. The pace sort of picked up a bit but I got used to it as the game went on,” he said.

Usually playing at half back or half flank, the 18-year-old said he has learned so much under the Lions coaching staff in such a short time.

“More just key terms that are useful."

“Just the simple things that I can take back and use in the second half of the season back in South Australia.”

Voss will pull on the jumper again for in the Lions NEAFL clash against Sydney University in Blacktown this weekend.
