The Brisbane Lions NEAFL side will be boosted by the return of Brandon Starcevich for their elimination final against the Aspley Hornets this Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder was named in Coach Mitch Hahn’s 22-man team earlier this morning. Starcevich made his AFL debut in Round 20 against North Melbourne and held his spot for the remainder of the Lions Senior team’s season.

Liam Dawson has been named at half back, fresh from being named in the NEAFL’s Team of the Year. Corey Lyons has been named at half forward following a career-best performance against GWS last weekend where he had 40 disposals, two goals and three tackles.

Tom Fullarton has been omitted from the team this week. Under NEAFL rules, the Lions are only allowed to play 16 AFL listed players when against state league teams.

The Lions head into the knock-out final in formidable form, with four wins on the trot. In their final regular game of the season they defeated the Giants by 101 points.

They have met Aspley once this year in Round 9, with the Hornets claiming the four points on that day.

Bounce is at 1:30pm at Graham Road, Aspley. Entry is free and the match will also be live-streamed.
