The Brisbane Lions are proud to announce Paige Parker as the Club’s first-round pick at the 2018 AFLW Draft.

After an outstanding QWAFL season for Coorparoo, Parker has been selected as Pick No. 9 by the Lions.

2018 saw the pieces fall into place for Parker, finishing equal fourth in the 2018 QWAFL Best and Fairest.

She was also a standout at the inaugural Winter Series competition while representing the Gold Coast Suns. A string of solid performances saw her awarded Gold Coast’s 2018 Winter Series Development Player award at its Club Champion awards night.

Over the last two years, the Lions have played a significant role in Parker’s development, with the young halfback participating in the side’s train-on group.

Coaches Comment – Craig Starcevich

“Our first-round pick, Paige Parker is a terrific story. She’s been on our train-on group now for two years, waiting in the wing.

“She’s been terrific in terms of her perseverance and willingness to learn.

“This year playing for Coorparoo and playing for the Suns in the Winter Series, we started to see her understand the game. The penny dropped in both those competitions and we saw Paige emerge as someone we really want on our list.”

Welcome to the Den, Paige!
