Breanna Koenen is expected to play her first AFLW game of 2019 on Sunday, after being named in Craig Starcevich’s 23-women squad.

The determined defender missed the opening two games of the season after injuring her knee in a training mishap.

“We’re hoping she can slot back in,” Starcevich told lions.com.au.

“She had great preparation before she hurt her knee.”

Sharni Webb will miss the game against the Demons after injuring her ankle. While Arianna Clarke will not take to the field after accepting a one match suspension.

Jade Ellenger could make her debut after being named on the extended bench.

Starceivch said he is hoping his team will bounce back from last week’s defeat to the Dockers.

“We’ll be looking to be more intense around stoppages and around contests for longer than we were against Fremantle,” he said.

“We want to maintain that intensity right from the get-go until the end.”
