Introduction

Allen Christensen is a fleet-footed midfielder with the ability to push forward and hit the scoreboard. A prolific ball winner as a junior, Christensen has applied the same ball winning abilities at AFL level, particularly around stoppages.

He was traded to Brisbane during the 2014 Trade Period for pick 21 which the Lions received from GWS for Joel Patfull.

After two injury-hit years, Christensen is finally back to full fitness and ready to reclaim his spot in the Senior side in 2018.

Background

• Christensen was born and raised in Geelong, playing for the Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup U18 Competition before being drafted by the Geelong Cats with pick 40 in the 2009 AFL National Draft.

• He debuted for the Cats in Rd2 2011, going on to play 19 games with his Rd18 performance against Richmond earning an AFL Rising Star nomination.

• Christensen was a member of Geelong's 2011 AFL Premiership Team, defeating Collingwood.

• Christensen was traded to the Lions during the 2014 AFL Trade Period in exchange for pick 21 which the Lions received from GWS for Joel Patfull.

Season by Season

Season by Season

• Christensen played 11 games of the 2016 season and averaged 16.6 disposals.

courageous attack for a disputed ball left the 25-year-old with an injured collarbone which inevitably ended his season - he was due to play his 100th game.

Season by Season

• Christensen played just one NEAFL match in 2017 before re-injuring his collarbone which ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

• He took up a coaching role with the NEAFL side while continuing with his rehab.

Season by Season

• Allen Christensen played every match in 2015 despite recovering from back surgery.

• The 24-year old premiership player from Geelong averaged 20 disposals and a goal a game, recording a season high 31 possessions in Round 10 against GWS.

• With his good vision, decision-making and foot skills, it is little wonder Christensen (6.2) topped the Lions in score assists in 2015.

• He was rewarded for his strong season when he was recognised as runner-up in this year’s Merrett-Murray Medal.

• Leading into his second pre-season at the Lions, Christensen can only get better.
