Introduction

Jackson Paine is a developing young key forward who arrived at the Club from Collingwood as a 20-year-old at the end of the 2013 season. Paine is a competitive and aggressive forward who runs hard at the contest and has the ability to split open a pack with his marking ability.

Background

• Paine was a promising junior who performed well in attack during the 2011 NAB AFL U18 Championships, and was also part of Sandringham's TAC Cup U18 Premiership side.

• He was originally drafted by Collingwood with Pick No.50 at the 2011 AFL National Draft, and went on to play a total of six senior games in two seasons with the Magpies.

• At the end of 2013, he headed to Brisbane as part of a straight swap trade that saw Patrick Karnezis head back home to join Collingwood.

• Despite still being in the early stages of his AFL development, Paine identified there would be greater opportunities for him in Brisbane - particularly considering regular spearhead Jonathan Brown was in the twilight of his career.

Season By Season

Season By Season

• Jackson Paine had a run of bad luck with injury in 2015 – playing early in the season in the NEAFL after recovering from a shoulder injury, only to suffer an ankle injury mid-season while pushing for senior selection.

• Paine had surgery in May that left him out for the remainder of the year, and will be looking to make a big impression in 2016.

Season by Season

• Paine had a limited pre-season after undergoing shoulder surgery in 2013, but showed his potential up forward in the 2014 Season.

• Making his Brisbane Lions debut in Round 4 against Port Adelaide, Paine played 6 Games for the Senior side. He showed some great signs, including his 15 disposal and 1 goal game against Essendon in Round 8.

• Paine also had some standout performances for the Brisbane Lions Reserves team, Kicking a bag of 5 in their win against the Gold Coast Suns Reserves team, and was also strong in the Lion Reserve’s narrow loss to the Northern Territory Thunder where he kicked 5 goals as a key position forward.
