Introduction Kieran King was drafted as an underage player with the Club’s final selection in the 2008 National Draft. He is an attacking medium-sized midfielder who enjoys taking on the opposition with his carry and run. King is also an exceptional athlete having competed nationally in the 400m event as a junior. Background • Rossmoyne junior Kieran King was a national athletics U16 and U17 400m champion who initially vowed to throw everything into his Olympic dream. • He proved in the 2007 NAB U16 Championships that he was also a talented footballer by averaging 19 disposals in three matches playing across half-forward. • His used his blistering pace to advantage and ended the U16 carnival with the second most running bounces (13) of any Division One player. • King was on the verge of being selected for the world junior athletic titles, but instead chose to focus his attention on his football career by playing with East Fremantle – the same Club that spawned fellow Lions Simon Black, Mitch Clark and Bradd Dalziell. • The Lions ultimately chose King with their final selection (Pick No.81 overall) in the 2008 National Draft.
