Round 18, Saturday 20th July

Community Footy Round sees the Brisbane Lions participate in a range of community activities in a celebration and acknowledgement of all things community footy.

Throughout the week the players train in their junior club guernseys, clubs are given exclusive ticket offers, and pre-match, the Brisbane Lions Community Club Of The Year is awarded. In 2019 community club of the year was awarded to the Victoria Point Sharks football club for their strong presence in the community and their passion for a number of causes away from the footy field.

  • 2019 Winner – Victoria Point Sharks JAFC
  • 2018 Winner – Carindale Cougars JAFC

Just 12 hours after the game, Chris Fagan and both AFL and AFLW players went out to umpire local junior footy games around the Brisbane community. This experience allowed the players to understand the challenges umpires face whilst supporting the club’s parents and volunteers who often take up a range of umpiring roles every weekend.
