LIONS RELATED NEWS/STORIES/RUMOURS
Paddy Ryder
The Lions were one of three clubs - together with Port Adelaide and GWS Giants - being heavily linked to versatile ruckman Paddy Ryder, who requested a trade from Essendon.
Despite a positive meeting with key officials in Brisbane, Ryder ultimately nominates Port Adelaide as his preferred destination.
Lions CEO Greg Swann all but rules out a late play for Ryder, stating that he's 99% certain that the big Bomber will land at Alberton.

Dayne Beams
Gun midfielder Dayne Beams advises Collingwood that he wishes to be traded home to Queensland to be closer to his ill father.
The Lions quickly firm as his favoured destination given his brother, Claye, already plays with the Club.
The Lions publicly offer their prized Pick No.4 at the upcoming Draft, which the Magpies promptly reject. Collingwood demands Pick No.4 plus one of the Lions' star players, which the Lions promptly reject.
Collingwood reportedly set the Lions a deadline of Friday 10 October to strike a suitable deal for Beams.
Speculation is rife surrounding Lions players that might form part of the deal, although the Club stands firm in saying that they won't be trading away any of their talented youngsters. Justin Leppitsch responds immediately to rumours surrounding Jack Redden potentially being part of the deal:

There is little movement in the opening two days, however North Melbourne midfielder Levi Greenwood's request for a trade to Collingwood opens the door for a potential three-way for the Lions involving Beams.
Gold Coast all but rule themselves out of the race for Beams, with Suns List Manager Scott Clayton saying: "I think if anything gets done it will be with Brisbane".
Lions CEO Greg Swann reveals on Wednesday that the Club is still in dialogue with Collingwood with regards to a trade. He reaffirms that the Club won't part with any of their existing core of players, but suggests that the Lions might be willing to include an additional draft pick (Pick No.25) to help satisfy the Magpies.
Negotiations between the Lions and Collingwood are at a standstill with neither party seemingly willing to compromise on their respective offers.
Leppitsch again waters down rumours surrounding the Lions shopping around their young talent with a strong Tweet on the morning of Collingwood's self-imposed deadline:

Collingwood release a statement not longer after 5pm to advise that they will no longer be dealing with the Lions as their deadline has passed. Peter Schwab, however, says the Lions remain in the hunt for Beams.
Jack Crisp emerges as a potential ice-breaker in the Beams deal, with Pies seemingly considering a deal involving Picks 5, 25, and Crisp.
Collingwood President Eddie McGuire suggests on radio that a deal could be finalised by Tuesday afternoon. The deal is expected to 'open the floodgates' with a range of other trades dependent on Beams' outcome.
The most anticipated deal of the 2014 AFL Trade Period is finalised on Wednesday morning, with the Lions and Collingwood lodging paperwork for a trade sees Dayne Beams and Pick No.67 head to Brisbane in exchange for Jack Crisp and the Lions' first two draft selections (Pick No.5 and 25 overall). Beams now joins younger brother Claye in the maroon, blue and gold.

Joel Patfull
Two-time Club Champion Joel Patfull advises the Club that he is open to a move to NSW due to business interest post-football.
• Patfull, who turns 30 in December, remains contracted to the Lions and said he's happy to remain there should an appropriate deal not be struck with either the Swans or GWS Giants.
The potential bargaining power of both NSW-based clubs is affected following the bidding selection meeting on day one of the trade period. GWS commit their second round selection to drafting Academy talent Jack Steele, while the Swans successfully bid on three Academy players - leaving both clubs with fewer options at the trade table.
Lions CEO Greg Swann says the Giants are the most likely suitors for Patfull, and suggests a pick in the 20s might help them secure the two-time Club Champion.
Patfull's move to GWS is finalised on Friday, with the Lions receiving the Giants' end-of-first round compensation pick (Pick No.21 overall) in return.

Daniel Merrett
Daniel Merrett is believed to be 'exploring his options', with reports that three clubs - Adelaide, Melbourne, and the Western Bulldogs - are interested in the veteran full-back.
• The Lions are open to discussions surrounding Merrett, but will hold the upper hand given the popular defender still has two years remaining on his contract.
• CEO Greg Swann says Merrett is set to stay in Brisbane after receiving minimal interest from rival clubs.

Father-Son & Academy Nominations
The Lions officially nominate, and successfully bid on, Josh Clayton (Father-Son), Harris Andrews (Academy), and Liam Dawson (Academy).
The Club is now committed to taking Dawson (third round selection), Andrews (fourth round selection), and Clayton (last live selection) at the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

Allen Christensen
Geelong midfielder Allen Christensen is reported to be seeking a move to North for a lifestyle change, with the Lions and Gold Coast his preferred destinations.
The Lions emerge as the favourites to land Christensen, however any potential deals with Geelong on hold pending the outcome of their ongoing  negotiations with Collingwood surrouding Dayn Beams
The Lions and Cats reveal that Christensen is all but certain of joining the Club in exchange for the Lions' Pick No.21 from GWS in exchange for Joel Patfull. The deal, however, is pending a medical assessment.

Paperwork is lodged on Monday afternoon finalising Christensen's move to Brisbane, in exchange for the Lions' Pick No.21 (received from GWS as part of the Joel Patfull trade)

Mitch Robinson
CEO Greg Swann confirms that the Lions had met with the management of Carlton utility Mitch Robinson, but said the Club wasn't actively seeking a trade with the Blues for the 25-year-old.
