Lions defender Darcy Gardiner has received good news on his injured shoulder, with a scan ruling out any major damage.

Gardiner feared for the worst when forced out of the second half of last Friday night's NAB Challenge draw against the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium after injuring the shoulder in the opening quarter.

But an MRI this afternoon showed no significant structural damage to the joint.

The BUPA Support Team will rehab Gardiner's shoulder this week as he sits out training, with a view to him returning to train next week for the Round 1 clash with Collingwood at the Gabba on Saturday, April 4.
