A stunning game from Brisbane Lions midfielder Dayne Zorko was the second-best individual performance in a loss since 2010.

Zorko scored 37.4 in the AFL Player Ratings, making it the fifth-best game in the eight seasons the ratings have been calculated.

Lance Franklin's famous 13-goal haul for Hawthorn against North Melbourne in 2012 was the No.1 performance, when he finished with 50.5 points.

Ranked No.9 in the AFL before the round began, Zorko rose to No.6 after his brilliant effort as the Lions went down by 85 points against the Cats at the Gabba last Saturday night.

A breakdown of the stats showed why Zorko's game was so extraordinary.

He racked up 36 disposals and gained 726m for his side.

He did plenty to help the Lions hit the scoreboard: four goals, four score assists and 11 score involvements.

He did the hard work: 14 contested possessions, 12 tackles, 10 clearances and three smothers.

An aspect of the game Zorko has long excelled at is his defensive pressure. So far this season, of those who have lined up in at least 10 matches, Zorko is the No.1 pressure player in the competition.

Zorko has ranked in the top five for pressure applied in five of the past six seasons. The exception was 2015, when he was ranked 22nd in the AFL.
