St Kilda will hold two top-10 selections for the first time since 2001 after the AFL Draft order was partially locked in on the weekend.

The first 10 picks were confirmed following the end of the home and away season, with the Brisbane Lions finishing 18th and collecting the No.1 pick.

Cam Rayner, Adam Cerra, Luke Davies-Uniacke and Paddy Dow are the four midfielders vying to be the first overall pick at November's national draft.

The Lions' cross-town rivals Gold Coast closed the year with the No.2 pick, while Carlton has another early selection with the third choice.

North Melbourne's win over the Lions on Saturday saw the Roos rise to 15th on the ladder where they will have the fourth selection – their earliest pick at a draft since 2006.

The Saints hold perhaps the strongest hand with picks No.7 (Hawthorn's on-traded pick from last year) and No.8 (their own).

The last time they took two top-10 picks to the draft was 16 years ago when they picked Luke Ball and Xavier Clarke with choices inside the first five.

If there is any silver lining to Melbourne's drop out of the finals race, it is that the Demons will attain pick 10 at the draft.

The Tigers' excellent season will be boosted by having two picks in the first-round, but the Giants have essentially been stripped of their first-round selection due to the penalties from the Lachie Whitfield affair last year.

The Giants were penalised 1000 'draft value points' for their part in the saga, which means their first pick (currently No.15 and worth 1112 points) will now be worth 112 points.

That would see the pick slide to the back end of the draft and fall at No.63, which is worth 112 points under the points index.
