Arianna Clarke's selection in the Brisbane Lions’ AFLW team, as the Lions’ second pick (15th overall), is a childhood dream come true.

AFL is on the mind 24/7 for Clarke.

A proud Coolangatta Bluebird in the QWAFL competition, she also works for AFL Queensland, while studying a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation.

Clarke has the talent to match her passion. Either a key defender or medium-sized on-baller she has a penetrating kick, is sure overhead and wins contested ball.

Her outstanding leadership qualities also appealed to the Lions, after she captained the Queensland under 18 side at National Championships this year. She was also School Captain at Robina State High School.

Clarke was then selected in the AFLW Under 18 All-Australian team and was part of the inaugural NAB AFL Women’s National Academy.

In October 2017, Clarke was announced as the inaugural winner of Bond University’s Riewoldt Family AFL Excellence Scholarships. The 100% full-tuition allows Clarke to gain a first-class educational experience, while pursuing her AFL career.

Her cousin Darren Glass is a former West Coast Eagles captain and 2006 premiership player.
