Collingwood proved to be the stronger side on Saturday against the Brisbane Lions, coming away with a 14-point victory at Burpengary.

The game plan leading into Round 6 was to start the game fast and strong but four early goals to Collingwood had the Lions on the back foot early on.

A better second quarter saw the Lions work their way back into the game but inaccurate kicking proved costly.

The second half saw Collingwood convert a number of opportunities inside 50 to build a match-winning lead that three late goals from the Lions couldn't overcome.

By the numbers, the Lions enjoyed more inside 50s (31-21), contested possessions (107-97) and clearances (20-15).

Emily Bates and Jamie Stanton were named best on ground for the Lions alongside Kate Lutkins who continued what has been a very impressive 2017 campaign for the defender.

Lutkins gathered 18 disposals, four marks, three tackles and a goal late in the final quarter.

The competition around the ruck was relatively equal with Lions making 20 hit-outs to Collingwood’s 21.

Bates (20), Stanton (18) and Ally Anderson (17) collected plenty of ball in the midfield.

Sabrina Frederick-Traub clunked a team-high six marks and kicked one goal.
