Throughout September, lions.com.au will be reviewing the seasons of all members of our current playing group. Today we look at Daniel Rich's year.

Daniel Rich had a promising pre-season for the Brisbane Lions and was in fine form at the inaugural AFLX tournament in Sydney and in the JLT pre-season matches.

However, injury prevented this form from rolling into the AFL season.

During the first quarter of the Lions’ season opener against St Kilda, Rich hobbled off with an ankle injury. He did not return to the game and would miss the next five matches.

The defender made his return for the Lions in Round 6 against GWS but took a few games to return to his top form.

In Round 12’s loss to Essendon he was one of the Lions’ best, with 29 disposals and two tackles for the afternoon.

His best game for the season was Round 16’s win over Carlton where he had 28 disposals and four tackles. His efforts were rewarded by being named in AFL Media's Team of the Week.

Overall in 18 matches, Rich averaged just under 20 disposals a game.

Rich played in all five of the Lions’ wins. His lethal left boot kicked one goal for the year.

Coaches Comment - Murray Davis, Backline Coach

"Unfortunately was injured in Round 1 and missed four weeks before returning in Round 6 v GWS. Made an immediate impact with 28 disposals and went on to average 20 disposals for the remainder of the season."
