For the Victorian-based Brisbane Lions fans who attended last Friday night’s Fan Forum at Oaks on Market, the following day’s terrific JLT Series win over Melbourne would have come as no surprise.

Around 50 fans braved Melbourne’s busy CBD to ask questions of Senior Coach Chris Fagan, General Manager of Football David Noble, CEO Greg Swann, and Chairman Andrew Wellington.

This unique opportunity to hear from all four key Club officials covered topics ranging from the proposed training and administration facility at Springfield, our new recruits and pre-season form, the new rule changes (including the contentious runners’ policy), and the expectations on this year’s playing group.

What was evident through all the answers, and appreciated by all in the room, was the strong emphasis placed on “being a good Club”.

This was emphasised by Noble when discussing the approach to the men’s team.

“Our number one job is to take care of each other,” Noble emphasised when discussing the approach of the men’s team.

“We want to first make them better men. Then we make them better footballers. It’s in that order.”

Swann also added that “the Club has worked very hard to make it like a family.”

The overwhelming positive feeling flowing from the hour-long forum continued across the weekend, with the men putting up an impressive performance against the Demons and an equally impressive showing at the Victorian Family Day on Sunday.
