The Lions NEAFL side celebrated their seventh straight win on the weekend against GWS, in their most even contest to date. Both the Lions and GIANTS had eighteen AFL listed players take to the field.

However, it was an Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy player who stole the show. In his first NEAFL game Tom Wischnat kicked three goals in front of his home crowd at the Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex.

“We brought him in during the week,” NEAFL Development Coach Paul Henriksen told lions.com.au.

“It’s actually his home crowd…you could hear them barracking for him.”

It was not just the accuracy in front of goal that impressed Henriksen and the coaching staff, Wischnat also laid some strong tackles.

“He played his role beautifully for us,” Henriksen said.

“He’s a big strong lad.”

Jacob Allison produced another impressive performance, finishing with 30 disposals for the afternoon. Allison has moved to half back this season, which has seen him replicating his late 2017 form.

“His form over the last month and a half has been really good,” Henriksen said.

The NEAFL side meet the Swans this Saturday for a top of the table clash at South Pine Sports Complex.
